Opens: 5 October 2026 — Closes: 5 November 2026
The key objectives of this are:
Creating jobs and livelihoods: Building lasting income and employment for coal-affected communities, including former mine workers, through agricultural production, processing and aggregation.
Developing the whole value chain: Supporting projects beyond primary production so that farmers and local enterprises capture more of the value they create.
Embedding circular, waste-to-value pathways: Turning crop, food and organic waste into compost, fertilizer or energy through funded agricultural projects.
Geographic prioritization: Projects from anywhere in South Africa are eligible, with primary preference given to coal-affected communities in Mpumalanga and secondary preference to national initiatives.
